ELECTRICAL REPAIR AND RESTORATION

Our electrical repair and restoration process includes replacing all bad and weak tubes, capacitors and other bad or out of tolerance components that might affect the proper operation of the equipment being repaired.  These repairs are always made with an effort to maintain the appearance as close to original as possible. All controls and mechanical bearing shafts are cleaned and lubricated as needed and/or replaced if necessary.  All wiring that has cracked or missing insulation is replaced or re-sleeved as necessary to assure a safe and dependable product that will give years of satisfactory performance.  After repairs are made, the equipment undergoes a complete tune up and alignment of all coils and trimming capacitors on all bands according to the manufacturer’s original specifications whenever available.  Our engineering design experience allows us to make many repairs that other repair shops would not even attempt.

CABINET RESTORATION AND REFINISHING

Often times a complete strip and refinish is not necessary and a careful restoration of the existing finish can make it presentable for the most thorough critic.  When a complete restoration is required or requested by our customer our process includes the following:

1.     Completely strip down to the original wood grain finish.

2.     Repair any damaged structural wood pieces and re-glue all loose joints.

3.     Remove old damaged veneer and replace with new matching veneer.

4.     Grain fill the entire cabinet to provide for a smoother finish.

5.     Apply stains and toners to match the original factory finish.

6.     Apply several coats of sanding sealer as necessary.

7.     Apply finish clear coat to match the original luster of the piece.

8.     And of course hand sand as often as needed between steps.

9.  We will also replace the grill cloth with new material as close to the original as possible.

We use ONLY the highest quality lacquers and stains available to produce a finish as close to the original factory finish of the cabinet as possible with modern products.

If the customer desires, we can also sand blast and remove rust from the chassis and other metal parts, polish and/or repaint as necessary to match the original factor internal colors as closely as possible.
